PSA...
I thought I had mentioned something here back when I created the other community. spudsjournal is no longer being updated - when he gets older and can update himself, that's another story, but for now with multiple people with things to report on, it's far easier to use a community. They tell me I'm 1 now!
Well, as of yesterday anyway. We had a party on Saturday. Grandma and Grandpa Honaker were there, as were LOTS of friends!! Did you know you get presents on your birthday! WOW That's so cool! I learned that they come in bags and wrapped in pretty paper. It was very cool. I got LOTS of toys! They tried to give me this spongy white stuff with greasy white stuff on top - with a little blue on it. But it was weird. It felt weird, and rubbed off wierd and I didn't like it very much. It was too sweet! But Nana gave me some ice cream, and I liked that a LOT. Today I'm not so happy. I had to go see Dr. L again. This time I knew what they were going to do as soon as they laid me down with my legs over the side. More shots :(. I SCREAMED and let them know that I was NOT happy with this. I mean, who gives baby's shots when they have their first really stuffy noses! (They say I have a cold, but my ears are clear and my throat is clear and I don't have a fever according to Dr. L). But - I'm 19 lbs 9 ounces, and 30.25 inches long. Which means I'm just over 50th percentile in height and 10th percentile in weight. And yes, I'm still trying to convince them that I'm really three months older! I can now: walk 4-6 steps at a time, when I'm in the mood. Say bye bye, nai nai, mama, dada, good girl, jersey, my sister's names (or at least the best I can do), and tonight I just told Amma "DON'T" | | Friday, September 10th, 2004 | | 9:50 am |
They tell me I'm smart...
I wave "hi" and "bye" I clap I learned how to sign "more" Amma and Mommy have been showing me more signs like "food/hungry" and "up". I'm walking around holding on to anything I can pull myself up on, and am speed crawling! Someone else mistook me for a > 1 year old! Foods I like LOVE (non-jarred food): - MEAT - chicken or steak - broccoli - YOGURT - watermelon - grapes (peeled and cut up) - guacamole - pears - potatoes - spaghetti (well, noodles of any sort so far) | | Monday, August 23rd, 2004 | | 9:18 am |
Long time no update
Well, I'm 9 months now, have 7 teeth, and am now trying to convince everyone that I'm 12 months! I can crawl well. Crawl on the bottoms of my feet. Pull myself up to standing. Get into a sitting position from any starting position. Walk along furniture. Grasp with my forefinger and thumb. I'm not quite talking yet, but I'm really trying to say "Good girl" when I pet the dogs. Oh, and I LOVE yogurt. So no one better eat any without me! | | Friday, July 16th, 2004 | | 9:49 am |
I'm 8 months old today!
I'll have a new user icon up shortly as well. But another month has gone by. I'm scooting more than a little well right now - my favorite mode of transportation (when not carried anyway) is a combination of rolling and scooting. But then...watch out, because I've also learned how to pull myself up into a standing position, and boy do I like that a lot. Last night, it was so hot, but I was sorta walking along the couch, and found Mommy's knee. I leaned my head down on Mommy's knee, wrapped my arms around her and gave her knee a hug. Ooh, and I like giving kisses - the wetter and sloppier the better! I have 4 teeth now, too, see? The last two came in on the same day! I need lots of geek toys to play with of my own so I don't go after all of everyone else's. The geekier the better, I think - all those cords and controllers look SOOOOOO cool. Mommy says her old co-workers used to call me Java Bean. I don't know what that means, yet, but maybe it's something to aspire to? | | Friday, July 2nd, 2004 | | 10:18 pm |
Boy am I glad that's over!
My first top tooth broke through tonight! I feel a lot better about the whole teething experience. Let's see, Mom and Dad and everyone else are very excited by the fact that I can move around the livng room by rolling. I know they want me to crawl, but rolling is easier, plus it makes me dizzy. I think I will try out this "singing" thing. I almost have the song from my exersaucer down. Current Mood: Young | | Wednesday, June 16th, 2004 | | 8:50 am |
I'm 7 months old today!
I'm sorry I haven't written in so long, I've been too busy doing other things like rolling over and over and over across the floor...zoom....who needs crawling when you can just roll to wherever you want to go! I like the shiny things. And the dogs. Gotta love the dogs! Even Celefin is starting to let me play with him! It's still ALL about the feet. I like sucking on my toes. Things I can do now: - I can sit up without support really well. - I can play on my piano - I can deliberately turn my crib toy on and off at will - I'm trying really hard to say "Daddy" and "Doggie" (still practicing, maybe for Sunday) - I like to laugh. A lot. I like to play laughing games at night. Last night Mommy, Daddy, or S-Mom would pat the couch, say "Couch" and I would giggle so hard I almost cried. I turned bright red I was laughing so hard! - I'm >.< close to crawling - I'm >.< close to having at *least* 2 more teeth, though the way my gums are aching, I have at least 4-6 others trying to push their way through. When I saw my doctor last month, I tried to convince her that I was really 9 months old with everything I can do, I thought maybe that would get me out of my shots, but it didn't. | | Wednesday, April 21st, 2004 | | 10:28 am |
More of me!
The brilliant lady hypoxia took some pictures of me that I thought I'd share! Doncha just love my smile? Heh - nekkid baby!More updates - I'm doing pretty good sitting up on my own now. I'm *almost* there on crawling...I can scoot around really good - as long as I'm asleep - or there are tons of toys just out of my grasp. I had some more bananas the other night - this time from a jar. I think I like the fresh stuff a little better, but this stuff's ok too. Though either way, about 1/2 teaspoon is about all my tummy can handle right now. | | Sunday, April 18th, 2004 | | 6:31 pm |
Mommy's slacking
This whole no client on her computer thing is making her sloppy. So - I was 5 months old on Friday! Wow, I have a lot to catch up on. I have two teeth now. I bit Mommy twice now, but she's teaching me how to nurse politely, and I think I got the hang of it. Ooh - and I'm working on my two front top teeth too - you can see the ridges of my teeth just under the skin. I'd rather be sitting rather than laying down, but I don't *quite* have all the coordination required to sit up on my own. But despite that, I can sit up with support, and enjoy it lots. I've taken a bath sitting up (with a guard rail) - and Mommy and Daddy switched my piano gym from floor laying to sitting up configuration. WOW that was fun! I laughed and squealed noticing that I could play with my favorite gym sitting up! A couple of weeks ago, I was interested in some food that was on the table, so S-mom prepared some bananas for me, and I had a teaspoon or so. It was really good, and I really liked it, but it's just not been my thing since then. Ooh and I'm getting really good at picking things up and stuffing them in my mouth :) Nanna and Grandpa will be here next weekend. Yay! ps - like my new icon? Yes, I really did bite Jersey-girl's ear! | | Thursday, March 18th, 2004 | | 12:02 pm |
I'm a growin' boy!
I saw my doctor last night for my 4 month checkup. Heh - Mommy figured out why it is it seemed like she always knew my sisters' weights and never knows mine...I've *only* seen my doctor for well-baby checkups - whereas my sisters, well, Kritter was the first, so they called about everything, and Beena had allergies that they didn't know were allergies, so she constantly had ear infections and congestion and throwing up. Anyway - I started cutting my first tooth on our trip to California. Whee - boy was I cranky! But it finally fully popped through on Monday. So now to work on the next one. Hee, but I surprised Mommy, Daddy, and the doctor, though - because my top teeth are starting to grow too! So - here're the stats: head circumference: 17 inches (up from 16.5 at 2 months, and keeping me firmly between 75-90%, closer to 90.) length: 25.5 (up from 24.5 at 2 months, and putting me firmly in the 50-75%, closer to 75) weight: 13 lbs 14.5 oz (up from 12 pounds at 2 months, and dropping me to just below the 50% mark) Doc said I didn't need to start solids yet - that there was no rush, and to start when I'm ready - that it's more about texture and learning than food now anyway. She said I really didn't need food until I'm a year old, but it's good to start when I'm ready. And I got my shots again last night. Boy was I MAD! But Mommy nursed me, and everything was alright with the world. I calmed down, laughed a little, and eventually fell asleep. I wasn't even all that cranky overnight either! | | Thursday, February 26th, 2004 | | 5:15 pm |
New Game
S-mom and I have a new game. She takes my really light blankie and covers my entire body with it, and I wiggle and giggle till I am out. Once I get out she claps and laughs, and we do it all over again. I am so glad I can use my hands! Oh...did you all know that S-mom has REALLY long hair? I can wrap it around my hand three times, and she does not even notice until I wave my arms. She makes these funny yelping noises when I try to put that hand of hair in my mouth though. Oh! I love my binkie! When I see it now...I open my mouth up wide and grunt till someone puts it in my mouth. Current Mood: playful | | Friday, February 20th, 2004 | | 1:03 pm |
Because I can...
I really like sleeping on my side, and now that I can get there on my own, I'm sooo much happier. | | Tuesday, February 17th, 2004 | | 9:47 am |
And I have more things to share!
Last night, I decided to continue my theme of trying to roll over, and I got almost all the way over, when my arm got in the way. Boy that made me mad! But then Mommy helped me the rest of the way over, but I didn't want help! I made my displeasure more than well known, and then realized that I didn't want to be there in the first place. I was playing with my legs last night too, but lost control over them. I couldn't stop kicking. Mommy rolled me onto my side, which got me to stop kicking, put some covers over me, and wow, I was in bliss, my eyes rolled up into my head, and I relaxed. Daddy stayed home from work today. I love him lots, but more to play! Daddy's are for playing! Not sleeping. I wouldn't calm down for him, and S-Mom had to come over and help get me to sleep. I talked with Nanna today - and Grandpa Burke - I like hearing voices. And I played with sounds. I'm working on my mmmmm's - and I love immitating sounds people around me make. I played blowing puffs of air, a sound that almost sounded like "yeah" and another sound that almost sounds like "mom". Oh yeah, and I learned how to give kisses. Just hold me up to someone's cheek! Yep, I've been a busy boy for having just turned 3 months old yesterday! | | Monday, February 16th, 2004 | | 8:50 am |
I'm getting the hang of this whole body coordination thing!
I've been practicing rolling up onto my left side in secret. Mommy and Daddy caught me at it once last week, unfortunately - but this weekend I unveiled the results of my practicing! I rolled up on to my side LOTS yesterday. And then again this morning. But only Mommy and my sisters saw me. I'm going to have to fix that, and let Daddy and S-mom, and Marc see. :) | | Monday, February 2nd, 2004 | | 10:26 pm |
Did you miss me?
I forgot to write last week when I saw my doctor again! I like her a lot - even though I got my first shot. I really wasn't happy with that, but Mommy nursed me, and I calmed down a little - but then got cranky again. But by the time we were back in the waiting room I calmed down again. As of January 21, I was: 24.5 inches long 12 lbs 1.5 ounces 16.5 inch head circumference Yep! I'm a growing boy! I discovered TOYS over the weekend!! I started playing with my fish - S-mom has been working with me at batting at toys and stuff, and Mommy showed me how to hold on to my fish - and how to gum it's plastic fins. Whee! Now I'm having a blast in my gym (I'll have Mommy take a picture with the web cam in a few minutes so you can see.) Oh, and have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE getting my diaper changed!? It's so much fun! Current Mood: happy | | Saturday, January 10th, 2004 | | 10:23 pm |

posted by mnfiddledragon I'm interrupting Spud's translation with a note of my own :) While watching the 'SC game yesterday (with him in my arms, sleeping somehow :P ): Said to Spud in a sing-song-ey voice... It's ok if you want to play football, you know... Though 'Sea and I will probably have to fight over who's your biggest fan But we'll be at all your games ['Sea pipes in at this point] and it's ok to be smart and be a football player! -- I *will* be amused if he does go out for football, though... | | Monday, December 29th, 2003 | | 6:15 pm |

Mommy went back to work today
And I sent her off with a smiles while we nursed this morning. I like giving smiles and cooing, and seeing reactions! But then I was fussy and didn't want to be put down most of the morning, so S-mom had told hold me alllll morning. I like being held. | | Thursday, December 25th, 2003 | | 9:10 pm |
I'm having fun scaring Mommy
Yesterday I slept through until she woke me up at 6:30 am! I was so good! I didn't fuss. But then when she woke me I remembered I was hungry. She thought I was too cold so let me sleep with her. I'll have to remember that too - 'cuz that was fun :) And this morning I slept until 8! My first Christmas has been so much fun. I'm so excited I don't know what to do - my new floor musical gym is awesome. I love love love it! But it's all too much, and I had to let everyone know that it was all too much. So I was fussy whenever I wasn't playing in my gym. |
